How a simple family moment inspired a mission to make technology safe and accessible for everyone
Helping Everyone Stay Safe and Confident in the Digital World
The idea for Culm Forge Media began with a very personal moment. On my dad's birthday, he received a brand-new smartphone — a device full of potential, but completely unfamiliar to him. He was unsure how to start, which apps to keep, and how to transfer his data. I spent the day patiently setting up his phone, transferring apps, explaining the interface, and showing him how to use it step by step.
Later that day, after my mum watched anjd observed, said something that stuck with me: "You have so much patience and understanding. You should use that to help others — not everyone has family to guide them like your dad does."
That moment sparked the idea for Culm Forge Media. I wanted to create a business that not only offers professional digital services but also provides personalized support to help people of all ages and backgrounds feel confident with technology. Whether it's setting up a new device, learning how to use apps, or staying safe online, our mission is to make technology accessible and stress-free for everyone.
Over time, it became clear that confidence with technology goes hand in hand with online safety. My dad had already fallen victim to scams: a group of fake “Facebook friends” tried to persuade him to buy hundreds of pounds in Google Play cards, and later he was targeted by an AI-generated scam encouraging him to “invest” in a fake app. Even small, seemingly harmless messages can feel threatening and confusing to someone without guidance.
Seeing these experiences firsthand made one thing obvious: technology isn't scary — it's the support and guidance that's missing. Culm Forge Media was born to fill that gap, helping individuals, families, and care homes not just use devices, but understand them, feel safe online, and enjoy the digital world confidently.
This is why we also focus on online safety and scam awareness. We want to empower people to recognise scams, protect their devices, and feel secure in the digital world. Our workshops and one-on-one sessions cover practical tips for staying safe online, identifying common scams, and building confidence in using technology without fear.
We also wanted to give back to the community, which is why we offer workshops for care homes and support vulnerable individuals in building their digital skills. Every business project we take on helps fund our social mission to empower people with technology and protect them from online scams.
